Images 1.-4.-“Mary” is a video installation-installed in the cave at Branchville Gallery’s outdoor sculpture garden thru August 17, 05—The digital video is a 2.5-minute loop projected 8’ X 10’ onto a wall inside the cave and was completed in 2004. The shower is where we cleanse ourselves and “Mary” explores spiritual cleansing through the use of repeated images of me in the shower being cleansed and eventually merging into an intense light as the last few scenes in the video are intensely bright. “Ave Maria” sung by Kiri Te Kanawa-the soundtrack for “Mary” celebrates the repetitive act of cleansing and refers to the Blessed Mother-Mary as a source of divine light. In “Mary” the everyday activity of showering can become a chance for enlightenment

Images 5-7.-“Perfect Mao-Perfect Day” is an installation that was part of The Peekskill Project 2004 in Peekskill, NY. This sculpture is made up of 93 roles of toilet paper, a photo of me as Mao Tse Tung 20” X 23”, a yellow star with a poem by Mao on it, and 27 notebooks hanging over a small red pyramid of hand-made Mao toilet paper. “Perfect Mao-Perfect Day” was installed in the front windows of the Westchester Art Center filling a bank of 5 windows totaling 10’ X 17.5’. “Perfect Mao-Perfect Day” was sandwiched behind the five glass windows and in front of a royal blue curtain the length of the installation.

Images 8-9.-“40 Days- a check in with myself” This drawing/installation is comprised of 40 drawings. Each day for 40 days I took a color polaroid of myself and wrote with pen the thoughts that were in my mind around the Polaroid that I pasted on the center of paper I took that day. “40 Days…” began on December 15, 02 and ended on January 24,03. “40 Days” is based on the psychological /spiritual notion that self reflection and focus on a given point for the prescribed 40 days will bring change e.g. Christ was in the desert for 40 days. I was focused on discovering what was on my mind. I wanted to acknowledge the act of self-reflection and self-discovery.

Image 10.-“The Woman Who Loved Men”, digital video, 49 seconds, 2004
This video is inspired by Francois Truffaut’s film “The Man Who Loved Women”-in particular the scene where the desperate man watches women walk with such detail and desire. In “The Women Who Loved Men” I reverse the gender roles and (as a woman) stare at men with humour rather than blatant desire.

Image 11.-“Nico, Funny Valentine”, HI8, 3 minutes and 18 Seconds, 2002
In this video I dressed up and performed as Nico from The Velvet Underground.
